OMPT-E

OMPT-E practice: format, scoring, and a free mock

The statistics variant: algebra plus probability, built for social sciences.

Psychology and social-science programmes typically sit OMPT-E. It swaps calculus depth for descriptive statistics, combinatorics, probability, and random variables. School tracks rarely get far into probability, so much of this is new material for most candidates, and that is where the underestimating happens. 40 questions in 120 minutes leaves no time to derive things from scratch.

Scoring

OMPT-E scores and cutoffs

Scale

Percentage score, 0–100%

Our mocks score instantly in your browser. The official test does not: standard grading returns your certificate in about 8 business days, so plan your booking around that wait.

Typical cutoff

65–70% depending on the programme

Every university sets its own bar per programme, so this range is a guide, never a promise. Aim ten points above your target cutoff in practice; exam-day nerves cost about that much.

Study plan

A four-week OMPT-E study plan

Four weeks is enough for most students who can give it an hour a day. This is the OMPT-E order I use with my own students.

  1. Week 1

Algebra and equations — the quiet half of the test that still decides your score.

  2. Week 2

Functions, exponentials, logarithms; start descriptive statistics.

  3. Week 3

Counting, probability rules, random variables. Drill until notation stops slowing you down.

  4. Week 4

Distributions, then mixed timed mocks at three minutes per question.

Prefer it mapped onto your actual exam date? The study planner turns this outline into a dated week-by-week schedule.

A OMPT-E question, as you’d meet it

This is question one of the free OMPT-E mock — real difficulty, no warm-up softball.

Functions

The function f(x) = 5x − 3 produces the output 7. Which input was used?

Solution

Set the formula equal to the output: 5x − 3 = 7. Add 3: 5x = 10. Divide by 5: x = 2.

Full mock exams

Buy a full OMPT-E mock

Each generation is a complete OMPT-E paper — 40 typed-answer questions under the real 120-minute clock, graded with worked solutions. They climb toward the real sitting: start low, finish on the exam-level set the week before you book.

Exam-level means the top of this line — written at the difficulty of the sitting itself. Lower generations sweep more of the syllabus at a gentler level, which is exactly what you want early in a plan.

  • YukiOMPT-E candidate · Japan
A solid mix of algebra with probability and statistics. I assumed statistics was my strength; the mock showed me probability was where the points were leaking.
  • MateoOMPT-E candidate · Colombia
Timing was my problem, not formulas. After practising here I stopped sinking ten minutes into single questions.
