OMPT-G

OMPT-G practice: format, scoring, and a free mock

The science module: maths plus mechanics and chemistry, 26 questions.

OMPT-G is the odd one out: beyond algebra, functions, sequences, trig and geometry, its final chapters cover physics mechanics and chemistry. Finnish institutions use it: LUT University and Arcada both require it for science-track admissions. If your programme names OMPT-G, plan for the science chapters separately; maths prep alone will not cover you.

Who requires it

Universities that ask for OMPT-G

Every requirement below was verified against the university's own admission page; each university page links the exact source. Cutoffs move between intakes, so always confirm on your programme's page.

Scoring

OMPT-G scores and cutoffs

Scale

Percentage score, 0–100%

Our mocks score instantly in your browser. The official test does not: standard grading returns your certificate in about 8 business days, so plan your booking around that wait.

Typical cutoff

60–70% depending on the programme

Every university sets its own bar per programme, so this range is a guide, never a promise. Aim ten points above your target cutoff in practice; exam-day nerves cost about that much.

Study plan

A four-week OMPT-G study plan

Four weeks is enough for most students who can give it an hour a day. This is the OMPT-G order I use with my own students.

  1. Week 1

Algebra, equations, and functions: the maths spine of the test.

  2. Week 2

    Exponentials, logarithms, sequences and series.

  3. Week 3

Trigonometry and geometry, including geometric calculations.

  4. Week 4

Mechanics and chemistry chapters, then a full timed mock.

Prefer it mapped onto your actual exam date? The study planner turns this outline into a dated week-by-week schedule.

A OMPT-G question, as you’d meet it

This is question one of the free OMPT-G mock — real difficulty, no warm-up softball.

Exponential functions and logarithms

For which exponent x does 2^x equal 1/4?

Reveal the worked solution

Solution

A reciprocal signals a negative exponent: 1/4 = 2^(−2) since 2^2 = 4. So x = −2.

Full mock exams

Buy a full OMPT-G mock

Each generation is a complete OMPT-G paper — 26 typed-answer questions under the real 180-minute clock, graded with worked solutions. They climb toward the real sitting: start low, finish on the exam-level set the week before you book.

Exam-level means the top of this line — written at the difficulty of the sitting itself. Lower generations sweep more of the syllabus at a gentler level, which is exactly what you want early in a plan.

From students

What OMPT-G candidates said afterwards

Feedback from students who prepared here and then sat the real OMPT-G, paraphrased from their e-mails and anonymized to first name and country.

  • ElenaOMPT-G candidate · Romania
I wanted maths, physics and chemistry practised together instead of in separate piles, and that mix turned out to be the most useful thing here.
  • SamuelOMPT-G candidate · Nigeria
The first mock made it obvious that mechanics was my weak spot. I revised it, sat a second mock, and felt properly ready.
