Leuven / Brussels / Antwerp · Belgium
KU Leuven takes the OMPT as maths proof on several bachelors, mainly for applicants whose diploma comes from outside the EEA or Switzerland. Note the split: business administration sits OMPT-A, the engineering-flavoured degrees sit OMPT-D.
KU Leuven uses the OMPT on three of its English-taught bachelors, and the split matters more than most applicants realise. The Bachelor of Business Administration on the Brussels campus asks for OMPT-A at 75%, and it asks only applicants whose secondary or university diploma comes from outside the EEA and Switzerland. The two engineering-flavoured degrees, Business Engineering and Engineering Technology, sit a different test entirely: OMPT-D, with a friendlier 60% minimum.
That pairing catches people out. The A is a shorter, faster test that stops at differentiation; the D is a three-hour paper of long multi-step problems over the widest syllabus of any variant. A student who prepared for the wrong letter has wasted weeks, so read your programme row before you open a single practice book. On the D-track programmes KU Leuven also accepts SAT maths at 730+ or ACT maths at 32+, which is worth knowing if you already hold one of those scores.
My advice for the 75% business bar: treat it as an 85% target in practice. KU Leuven's cutoff is among the higher ones in Belgium, and exam-day slips are real.
| Programme | Variant | Minimum score | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bachelor of Business AdministrationFaculty of Economics and Business (Brussels campus) | OMPT-A | 75% | Asked of applicants with a secondary or university diploma earned outside the EEA and Switzerland, as evidence of maths readiness. source |
| Bachelor of Business EngineeringFaculty of Economics and Business (Brussels and other campuses) | OMPT-D | 60% | You can swap the OMPT-D for a SAT maths score of 730+ or an ACT maths score of 32+. source |
| Bachelor of Engineering TechnologyFaculty of Engineering Technology (Leuven) | OMPT-D | 60% | SAT maths 730+ or ACT maths 32+ works instead of the OMPT-D here as well. source |

Prepare
Once you know your programme row, the next step is a timed mock of the exact variant it names. KU Leuven uses 2 different variants, so pick carefully.
Quick answers
It depends on the programme: OMPT-A at 75% for the Bachelor of Business Administration, and OMPT-D at 60% for Business Engineering and Engineering Technology. The requirement applies to applicants with a diploma from outside the EEA and Switzerland.
On the engineering-side programmes, yes: SAT maths 730+ or ACT maths 32+ replaces the OMPT-D. The Business Administration page names no SAT route, so budget for the OMPT-A there.
